This article summarizes features, benefits and concerns about Jack Lalannes Power Juicer and will even show you how to make a secure purchase direct from the manufacturer. We will make you aware of objections and complaints that have surfaced in our research and provide guidance as to the validity of these potential problems.
But first, a brief background on juicers.
Your typical juicer is purchased at a discount or department store for $50 – 60. Popular brands such as Oster or Hamilton Beach are inexpensive, but they just don’t get the job done. Weak motors are the main drawback.
Unless you are juicing soft produce like tomatoes or strawberries, the motor will inevitably bog down (sometimes to a standstill). In addition, the produce must be chopped into small pieces to fit into the feed chute and this, of course, increases the time and effort that you must put into preparation. Finally, cleanup can be arduous and time consuming.
Jack Lalannes Power Juicer…Not Your Typical Juicer
If you value your time, you need a “real” juicer that can stand up to the task of producing fresh, quality juice without a lot of hassle. Consider Jack Lalannes Power Juicer.
Jack’s Power Juicer is available for two easy payments here:
Jack Lalannes Power Juicer is well worth the few extra dollars and the manufacturer offers a payment plan.
Power Juicer has a large feed chute and 3,600 RPM motor that is guaranteed for life. That’s plenty of power so the motor won’t bog down.
TV infomercials claim the motor is “whisper quiet”. Although we find that claim to be an exaggeration, our research indicates that most consumers are favorably impressed with how quiet the Power Juicer operates.
Hard produce like carrots tend to rattle a bit and occasionally can get hung up in the chute. However, if you gradually apply a bit of extra pressure on the pusher, they will feed through just fine. Be patient, though. Do not strike the pusher with a hard object or your hand.
A Related Comment from Justin T. Maciver, a Power Juicer Owner from Texas
“I have seen some bad reviews on this product, and they are all on the same issue. The unit bogs down. Now, I have used the 4 gallon commercial juicers (Sunkist brand, Champion brand and Warring brand) and this product. IF maintained and used as directed, Jack Lalannes Power Juicer will produce a better quality juice than the commercial machines I used for my work.
The main thing is the produce you run through the unit. If you use sweet potatoes and hard gummy pulpy items, you will have to watch the filter and feed it slowly and pay attention. If you see that the pulp starts having too much juice in it, turn the unit off, remove filter, clean it and replace.
Simple! I love it. I precut just for an easier juicing and it does help. Please don’t let people who can’t read the manual dissuade you from a great juicer.”
A Common Complaint that has been Resolved
The original Power Juicer Classic model was available only in white. We have read complaints (dating back to 2005-2006) about the white plastic components picking up stains from fruits like oranges, beets and carrots. To address this issue, the Power Juicer Classic is now available in black and the Power Juicer Deluxe and Pro models are made from stainless steel. To avoid the staining issue, do not purchase Power Juicer in white.
A Few Dos and Don’ts
Processing whole fruits is fine, as long as it fits in the chute and does not have large pits or hard skins. Remove large pits such as mango, peaches and cherries and hard skins like pineapple and cantaloupe.
Do not juice bananas or avocado in the Power Juicer. Add them separately to a blender for smoothies.
The Power Juicer makes fresh juice for smoothies, but it is not a smoothie maker. Add all smoothie ingredients separately in a blender.
To get the full benefits of fresh juice, drink it right away. Fresh juice exposed to air will gradually loose significant amounts of vitamins and nutrients.
Some juices last longer than others and refrigerate well as long as they are in a sealed container. They can only be kept for a few hours. Preferably in a glass covered container so the flavor is not altered. You can add a few drops of lemon juice to help maintain flavor. Here is a list of juices that refrigerate well: carrot, apple, orange, pear, grape, grapefruit, pineapple, kiwi, prune, peach, celery and beet juice.
Fresh juice can be frozen in an airtight container for up to one month.
Clean up
Juicing is a fairly messy process, no matter what juicer you use…and everyone complains about cleaning up.
Clean up is fairly quick (5-7 minutes) with the Power Juicer’s large detachable components. The entire machine is dishwasher safe, but you may prefer to wash it by hand. For one thing, you often need to juice again before you run the dishwasher… so it’s just as easy to do a quick rinse of everything and a light wash. That way, if you are doing a juice fast, the juicer is always ready to go… all day.
One thing you DO NOT want to do is leave the juicer uncleaned for very long. Dried juice and pulp can be difficult to wash off.
And be careful not to leave the pulp sitting in your indoor waste container. One, it attracts fruit flies…and two, it will begin to ferment and give off a foul smell.
But, really, there is no reason to throw the pulp away. Add it to baked goods or pasta sauces to sneak extra vegetable content and fiber into your dishes.
